About Me
Dennis Graue
Pianist, Arranger, Composer, Producer, Recording Artist BIOGRAPHY and RESUME: Dennis has worked professionally in Hawaii’s music industry since the1970’s, composing, performing, and recording for a variety of famous artists. As a result, Dennis has become famous in his own right for his talents as a pianist, live performer and computer sequencer, mastering a wide range of musical styles from classical, ethereal, church hymns and big band swing, current cover songs, pop, jazz and Hawaiian. Dennis was born in Nu'uanu, Hawaii and was schooled in Southern California. He immediately became interested in music, and his perfect pitch led him to music lessons on practically every instrument in the orchestra. While growing up he was the substitute organist at church and played the piano for Wednesday night prayer meetings, and Sunday School Classes. While his father, (well known television personality and news anchor Ken Graue) who worked at KTLA Channel 5 Television, was working in Hollywood, Dennis was taking French horn, oboe/bassoon and always piano lessons. He also played the trumpet, and the drums in the high school marching band. Rock, Jazz, Afro Cuban Drums, and the 60's music was very influential in his musical schooling. During his high school years he was already playing professional gigs in the L.A./Hollywood/Pasadena area, and, during the day, was working with his dad producing on location sound for the News Department at KTLA Channel 5. His high school band, "The Gross National Product," went on to play with "The Doors," at the Las Vegas Convention Center. For more info on "The Gross National Product," go to 60's garage bands.com, and search for "Gross National Product." Dennis came back home in 1970 and has toured with Don Ho, as his music director, Cecilio and Kapono, Nohelani Cypriano and went on to do a lot of studio session work for some very talented local artists. |
